JD Humanoid from EZ-Robot

Created by Canadian startup EZ-Robot, JD is a humanoid robot that inspires teaching and empowers learning. JD offers scalable capabilities that grow with students as they learn to code with complex technologies such as object tracking, speech recognition, artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning. The EZ-Robot platform is unique in the field of coding and STEAM education because the robots drive unprecedented levels of engagement, and they scale with the students as they learn. To facilitate this, there are three coding interfaces available, Robotscratch (for beginners), Blockly (intermediate) and Java based scripting.

JD has an approachable humanoid design, which helps to make robotics less intimidating and more inviting for younger students. However, the computing power, advanced camera and AI features provide engagement for experienced users. The modular design means that if a part breaks in the classroom, educators can replace inexpensive pieces rather than having to get new robots, or send them away for repairs. We also provide free 3D files for every plastic component of our robots, so that students can 3D print replacement parts, or even modify and customize their robots' designs!

The reason why EZ-Robot has created a platform to engage everyone from beginner to advanced roboticists is not because they want to provide a toy to teach coding, but because they believe that education for robotics and coding literacy should be a fundamental aspect of our students schooling in order to properly prepare the next generation for an increasingly automated workplace.
